Inside The Design | Touch of Pink Refresh

Who doesn’t love a little pink in their lives? To honor the most pinkified “holiday” of the year (you know Valentines day) we wanted to showcase a recent bedroom refresh we put together for a lovely family in Lisle!

JB first approached HaylieRead with quite the vision! A vision of pastels, twinkle lights, and all things pink! There was even a drawing! Not very often does a client come to HaylieRead and have such vision and confidence in their ideas! And to top it off, this vision all came from JB’s 10 year old daughter, MB! JB had been looking for ways to make her daughter's vision come to life. With so much going on from virtual learning, to working from home, to a constantly changing global pandemic, JB needed help.

So HaylieRead stepped in! We had a blast reviewing the vision drawing and learning more about how they needed more storage and dreamed of a quiet space for MB to get away and relax after the taxing day of virtual learning!

After nailing down the concept we got to work. We started with the paint. We sent probably 20 different paint swatches over to JB and MB. We had to make sure we got the perfect colors! We ultimately selected two colors to become the framework for this room transformation. Sherwin Williams Lighthearted Pink, Sherwin Williams Elation, and Sherwin Williams High Reflective White.

Once we had our framework, we then got to work selecting all the furniture, drapery, and rugs. We knew we were keeping some key pieces like the bed frame, nightstand, and dresser, so we needed to select furniture that paired well. We kept it clean with a white bookcase and selected a super comfy saucer chair for MB to curl up in and read.

We then turned to the details. How to make a twin bed feel special and purposeful? Create a backdrop with drapery!? Why Not! We installed full drapery panels at the windows and instead of the traditional two panels, we continued the drapery to the corner. This created the perfect backdrop for the headboard.

Another must have was a large wall graphic. MB insisted on a graphic decal. But the durability and longevity of the decal was in question. So we opted for a beautiful brass wall art and paired it with textural pink rosettes. It turned out perfect. Just the right amount of dimension and can be easily moved in the future!

All in all, who would have thought that a 10 year old had such vision? This project was so much fun for us and we loved every step of the way in bringing JB’s and MB’s vision to life.
